Type Locality and Naming

By the river Taldybulak, western part of the Talas Alatau ridge. O.I. Sergun'kova, 1959 (382, p. 55). Stratotype in the upper reaches of the Taldybulak river, northern slope of the watershed of the Irysu-Taldybulak rivers. Upper formation in Chatkal Gr.

Synonym: Taldybulakskaya Suite, Талдыбулакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Gray, medium-bedded, bio- and pel-sparitic limestones, locally with layers of shell rocks and siliceous inclusions (up to 10%) in the form of nodules and small lenses. Thickness 130-370m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Overlies the Koksuy Fm conformably

Upper contact

Overlain by the the Sargardon Fm in the Pskem and Ugam Ranges, and the Irisuy Fm in the Talas Alatau Range.

Regional extent

Ugam, Pskem, Koksuy ridges, southwestern spurs of the Talas Alatau ridge.

Contains foraminifera - Paraendothyra tshikmanica (Mal.), Lipinellina chatkalica (Mich.), Endothyra turkestanica (B. et Y); brachiopods - Rhipidomella altaica Tolm., Rugosochonetes hardrensis (Kon.), Composita megala Tolm
